This voyage showcases the spectacular sights and fabulous flavors of three Mediterranean countries over the course of nine nights. (Although with a journey that starts in Rome and ends in Barcelona, you may want to consider adding a pre- or post-voyage stay at one of our preferred hotels.)

First stop is Sorrento, where you can meander the pedestrian-only streets, take a hydrofoil over to the legendary isle of Capri, and treat your taste buds to limoncello. In Amalfi, visit the beautiful cloister, do some shopping, and go for a drive along the famous coast road.

A late stay is on the agenda for Siracusa, and for good reason: The city was once one of the largest and most important in Western Civilization, and there’s still a lot to see and do here. Enjoy another late-night stay in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Valletta. Explore such historic sites as St. John’s Co-Cathedral and the Grandmaster’s Palace, take the ferry to nearby Gozo Island, and try some excellent Maltese wines.

Relax and rejuvenate with a day at sea, then it’s time to do a bit of island hopping—starting with the isle of Sardinia. Discover 25 centuries of history in the form of Roman ruins, museums, and churches. Next it’s on to Menorca, where a hike up Monte Toro offers the best views of this laidback Balearic hideaway. Dig into the island’s prehistoric past, or simply take in the natural wonders of this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

In sophisticated Palma de Mallorca, head to the Arab Quarter, visit the circular Bellver Castle, or stroll the seaside promenade, shopping for local goods. Last but definitely not least, your final port of call: Barcelona!

Rome
Always enchanting, the Eternal City will captivate you—no matter how many times you visit. Walk in the steps of gladiators at the Coliseum, channel your inner statesman at the Forum, or gaze up in wonder at Michelangelo’s masterwork at St. Peter’s Basilica. Pasta and vino are a must, and there are plenty of places to relax and refuel after a day of exploration.

Sorrento
Looking out from Sorrento is the isle of Capri. The island is divided into two main parts, Capri and Anacapri. Capri is full of Italian luxury, with designer stores and five-star hotels lining the streets, while Anacapri is slightly more down-to-earth. Take a relaxing chair lift ride to the very top of the island, as the views are jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

Amalfi
Live it up in the land of limoncello. Perched on one of the world’s most stunning coastlines, Amalfi delivers a true Italian experience. Discover unique shops and galleries, take a thrilling cliffside drive, or stay close to the shore and live la dolce vita.

Siracusa
Classic sights like the Ortygia, Neapolis, and the Basilica of Santa Lucia are always worth a visit, but if you’re looking for something a little more offbeat, take in a puppet theatre show—a traditional form of Sicilian entertainment. The stunning Fonte Aretusa was once the source of the city’s drinking water, and now the pond and surrounding area is a scenic spot, perfect for a picnic lunch.

Valletta
Everywhere you look in Valletta, there’s wonder to behold. Look down in St. John’s Co-Cathedral and discover “The most beautiful floor in the world.” Look up while wandering the streets and see colorful balconies filled with locals going about their day. Look beyond the city’s small size (less than half a square mile) and you’ll find a blend of old and new architecture that’s not to miss.

Cagliari
The colorful capital of Sardinia, there are over 25 centuries worth of history to discover in Cagliari. Beautiful beaches, rugged cliffs, and breathtaking underwater caves offer plenty of outdoor adventure, while the Il Castelo old town district is full of cobblestoned streets and quaint shops and cafes.

Mahon
From the moment Mahon comes into view from the ship, you know you’re in a special place. Perched high atop a cliff, shops, cafes, and restaurants line Mahon’s vibrant streets and are yours to discover. While visiting, be sure to explore the Church of Santa Maria. Here, you’ll find an unbelievable organ—complete with four keyboards and over 3,000 individual pipes—and a lovely municipal market.

Palma De Mallorca
A modern city with an ancient past, Palma’s rich history is yours to explore. Architecture admirers must visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, an iconic Gothic Roman Catholic cathedral that has stood for nearly 800 years. For nature lovers, don’t miss the Caves of Drach, where light and shadow dances across the rock formations, creating incomparable visuals you won’t see anywhere else.

Barcelona
Barcelona is a cosmopolitan masterpiece. With a history rich in art and architecture, medieval, Gothic, and modern influences can be seen all over the city. Start at the waterfront and stroll up the shady, tree-lined Las Ramblas boulevard and discover some of the city’s best shopping and bustling cafes.
