Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy
Civitavecchia was settled in 108 A.D. by the Emperor Trajan and has since served faithfully as a gateway to the capital of the Empire – Rome. Once the center of the Ancient World from which emperors ruled over nearly all of western civilization, Rome is still a cultural mecca. Stroll the ancient halls of the Colosseum or gaze upon the ceilings of the Sistine Chapel.
Catania, Sicily, Italy

Located on the east coast of Sicily, Catania is situated at the foot of the largest volcano in Europe, Mount Etna. Elegant, modern, and an important hub in Europe’s tech industry, Catania is also rich with baroque architecture, medieval castles, Roman era theatres, and a flourishing cultural and artistic center. The first university in Sicily was opened here in 1434. The Ursino castle built in the 13th Century is now a museum. The Piazza del Duomo, at the heart of Catania, is home to the city’s symbolic Fountain of the Elephant, constructed in 1736 from lava and an ancient Egyptian obelisk.

Athens (Piraeus), Greece

Athens brought the world drama, history, poetry, and philosophy. Once home to the world’s most powerful and civilized empires, Athens is now the world’s foremost archaeological playground. The towering columns of the Parthenon still stand in homage to the virgin goddess Athena.

Suez Canal (Passage)

Once only a dream of Venetian merchants, transiting the Suez Canal has become a cherished memory for many travelers. Connecting the Mediterranean and Red seas in 1869, it shaved 4,300 miles off of sailings between Europe and Asia. To the west, you can view the green Nile Delta in Africa and to the east, the arid Sinai Peninsula in Asia.

Aqaba, Jordan

The resort city of Aqaba is situated at the most southern part of Jordan and lies on the most northern tip of the Red Sea. On a clear day you can see Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. It offers a fascinating history with some outstanding sites, good shopping, and welcoming, friendly people. Aqaba’s long history dates back to pre-biblical times, when it was known as Ayla. But perhaps Aqaba’s greatest asset is the Red Sea itself. Here you can experience some of the best snorkeling, diving, fishing and water sports in the world. The temperate climate and gentle water currents have created a perfect environment for the growth of corals and a teeming plethora of marine life.

Muscat, Oman

This Arabian capital is an oasis of green lawns, shade trees, and colorful flowers in a desert country. White buildings and soaring minarets sparkle in the sun. Traditional architecture, elegant mosques, and eye-opening museums weave in Old World character. Explore forts, castles, and the Souk Muttrah, a traditional bazaar that invites you to shop for mementos.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emir.
