Suggested Itinerary
The day-to-day locations are already set and hotel accommodations will already be booked, but what you do during the day in each town or city is completely up to you. Below is a suggested itinerary of things to do and see so you can get the most out of your adventure. The beauty of this trip is that you can explore the country the way you want to. Just make sure to get to the hotel on time!
Day 1: Fly to Halifax
Fly to Halifax, pick up your rental car and check into your hotel. The lovely capital is your home base for the next three nights.
Hotel: Hampton Inn by Hilton Halifax Downtown or similar (3 nights)
Day 2: South Shore (250 km) (B)
Head out to the picturesque South Shore. Take the Lighthouse Route to historic Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop in the village of Mahone Bay before reaching Peggy’s Cove, the most photographed village in Canada.
Day 3: Annapolis Valley (180-420 km) (B)
Another day of exploration takes you to Port-Royal and Grand-Pré in the heart of the ancestral Acadian homeland. You can also visit an Annapolis Valley vineyard for a tour and a tasting.
Day 4: Halifax – Sydney (405 km) (B)
Take a guided tour of downtown Halifax, including photo stops at the entrance of the famous Citadel*. Wander the historical and port districts of the largest city in the Maritimes before setting out for Sydney on Cape Breton Island. Hotel: Cambridge Suites Hotel Sydney or similar (2 nights)

Day 5: Cabot Trail (470 km) (B)
Travel the Cabot Trail today. This winding mountainous road is 300 km long. Enjoy the ocean and mountain views, several observation towers, a national park, and many opportunities to view wildlife.
Day 6: Sydney – Halifax (405 km) (B) Sydney was a former industrial port now revitalized with a seafront boardwalk and marina. Enjoy a casual morning here before returning to Halifax. Hotel: Hampton Inn by Hilton Halifax Downtown or similar
Day 7: Fly home (B) Drop your car off at the airport before boarding your flight home.
