Day 2: Geneva – Chamonix, France (D)
Say bonjour to Chamonix – the perennial skihub nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc. Take the day to wander the pedestrian friendly streets of this quaint town steeped in hundreds of years of history. Tonight, toast to the beginning of your alpine adventure. Hotel: La Folie Douce Hotel (or similar)
Day 3: Chamonix (B)
Today, select an exciting activity because it’s your choice! Visit the QC Terme Chamonix, one of the most scenic and luxurious spas in the Alps OR choose to ascend the Aiguille du Midi via cable car for unparalleled views of the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps. At an elevation of over 12,600 feet (3,842 meters), the Aiguille du Midi is the closest you can get to the summit of legendary Mont Blanc – the birthplace of mountaineering – without a daylong hike. After, its time to soak in the 360° views, you may choose to return to Chamonix via cable car OR return to Chamonix on foot with a local alpinist (you’ll travel by cable car to the halfway point and hike back into town on a well traveled trail)
Day 4: Chamonix Lausanne, Switzerland (B/D)
Bid Chamonix and France adieu and set out for Switzerland. During today’s Impact Moment, get to know the pups of Barryland, a local foundation that promotes and protects the heritage of the St. Bernard, the official dog of Switzerland. Arrive this evening in the lakeside town of Lausanne for a 2night stay. Hotel: Hotel Continental Lausanne (or similar)
Day 5: Lausanne Lavaux Lausanne (B/L)
Take the morning at your leisure. Consider a short trip to Vevey to visit the Charlie Chaplin museum, or walk to the Olympic Museum before an afternoon visit to the terraced vineyards of Lavaux (UNESCO). Begin with lunch at a family owned restaurant before visiting with our friends, Jacques and Aurelia, for a wine tasting amongst the vines. Walk through the vineyards and drink in the scenery and signature varietals.
Day 6: Lausanne Montreux GoldenPass Train Gstaad Grindelwald (B/D)
Discover the iconic resort town of Montreux before an afternoon train ride on the GoldenPass that whisks you through the Swiss countryside en route to Gtsaad. Explore this carfree town dotted with iconic ski chalets. Tonight, dine on the top of Interlaken and experience a true feast for the senses. Breathe in fresh mountain air, admire jawdropping views, and savor the local cuisine. Settle in for a 2night stay in Grindelwald, nestled at the base of The Eiger. Day 7: Grindelwald Jungfraujoch Grindelwald (B)
A short cogwheel train ride brings you to Jungraujoch (UNESCO), known as the “Top of Europe.” Take your time to explore this eternal winter wonderland with impressive views of the imposing triple peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Wander the frosty halls of the Ice Palace to see works of icy art carved by local artists or stand next to the Swiss flag to capture your time above it all. Tonight is yours to do as you please. Day 8: Grindelwald Lucerne Seefeld, Austria (B)
Before departing Switzerland, spend some time to learn for yourself why the lakeside city of Lucerne is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland. Make your way through Liechtenstein, the only country to lie entirely within the Alps on your way to Austria. Day 9: Seefeld Mittenwald, Germany Seefeld, Austria (B/D)
This morning choose how you would like to explore the idyllic town of Seefeld, because it’s your choice! Tour the town and surrounding area in a horsedrawn carriage OR join a local guide on a hike through the unspoiled beauty of the Tyrolean mountains and forests. Cross into Germany where you’ll learn the art and craft of violin making at the Geigenbau Museum, returning to Seefeld to indulge in homemade Tyrolean cuisine.
Day 10: Seefeld Innsbruck Brunico, Italy (B)
Take in the scenery of the spectacular Bavarian Alps en route to enchanting Innsbruck. Walk the charming streets, discover the historic old town, and take in landmarks such as the Golden Roof. Depart Austria for Italy to witness the unique jagged limestone peaks of the Dolomites. Arrive in Brunico, a historic town dating back to the 1200s, and your home for the next two nights. Journey into the Dolomites (UNESCO) mountain range and discover natural beauty and local traditions. During a walk in the Val Badia valley, learn about the centuries old Ladin culture.
