Wedding season will soon be upon us, and this is just about the time of year I start getting calls and emails from brides looking to plan that perfect honeymoon in paradise.
Honeymoons are definitely one of the topics I get asked about most, so to all those newlywed couples out there – here is my advice:
Tell everyone all along the way that it’s your honeymoon. You may feel a bit shy about do this, but do it! Tell your travel agent, airline personnel the hotel front desk – EVERYONE! You’ll be surprised at what extras people will do for you.
Be as specific as you can when you are booking your trip. The size bed you want – King or Queen? Ask for the airline seats, cruise ship cabins, specific type of hotel room you want. Even the time of day you would like to leave. You want your everything to be as seamless as possible for you and your new partner.
As far as picking a destination? It’s really about personal preference. I suggest doing some homework before you go. I can guarantee you will have a much better time on your vacation if you know what to expect and see in the destination ahead of time. Call Tourist Boards, read brochures and of course, go on-line.
My last piece of advice is to know your budget and stick to it! A wedding is expensive enough, and I have seen way too many couples go into debt because they’ve overspent on their honeymoon…not a great way to start married life.
